At Singletree Schoolhouse, we believe childhood is meant to be lived outdoors — digging, discovering, creating, imagining, and connecting with the rhythms of the natural world. Our early learning and homeschool programs offer children a place to explore freely, build confidence, and learn through meaningful hands-on experiences in nature.
Here on the farm, learning happens slowly and intentionally. Children tend the gardens, observe wildlife, gather around seasonal crafts, splash in puddles, follow trails, care for plants, and develop deep sensory awareness. We create an environment where curiosity leads, and nature teaches.
Mission:
To nurture children’s curiosity, confidence, and connection through nature-based education rooted in exploration, play, and seasonal rhythms.
Vision Statement:
To establish Singletree Farm & Florals as a leading Maryland destination for agritourism and nature-based learning — a place where flowers bloom, families unwind and community flourishes.
Core Values:
- Connection to Nature
- Seasonal Beauty
- Child-Led Learning
- Creativity & Curiosity
- Community & Family
- Natural World Stewardship
- Slow, Intentional Living
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT:
- A real working flower farm classroom
- Interaction with plants, soil, and seasonal cycles
- Small class sizes + individualized care
- Supportive community for homeschool families
CLASS RHYTHM:
A typical class would flow gently like so:
9:00am-9:15am: Arrival and free play with natural materials, such as building towers with wood slices, exploring insect themed flashcards
9:15am-9:30am: Circle to discuss theme of the day
9:30am-10:00am: Exploration and nature study. For example: scavenger hunt, harvesting flowers or pumpkins
10:00am-10:30am: Craft
10:30am-11:00am: Collaborative group activity
11:00am-11:15am: Story
11:15am-11:30am: Closing circle, reflection and dismissal*
*The final class will include a seasonal feast to celebrate the end of their classes
Both classes (Homeschool enrichment and Preschool) will be held at the same dates and times, there will be times when both groups will intermingle and some instruction/activities will be separate, so that the material is age appropriate.
